Why Flower Works For Commuters
Flower travels well. A sealed jar fits in a bag, keeps for a while in its packaging, and tends to be good value compared with other formats at the same counter. If you are stopping in before a train home, it is a simple pickup. The menu is live, so the easiest way to see what is in today is to check it before you arrive or ask a budtender once you are in. How The Flower Is Grown
New York flower comes from a few cultivation methods, and it is worth knowing the differences because they shape the product more than the old indica-sativa label does.
Indoor. Grown in a controlled environment with managed climate and lighting. This tier usually has the densest trichome coverage and the highest cannabinoid numbers.
Greenhouse. A partly controlled environment with climate management and natural light. Yields tend to be higher than full indoor, and the terpene profile can read complex because the plant gets real sunlight.
Sun-grown outdoor. Grown in open fields or hoop houses on natural sunlight and harvested at the end of the season. This is usually seasonal, and the terpene profile can be the most complex because the plant went through a full season outdoors.
Jars come in a range of sizes, from a single gram up to an ounce. A 1 gram jar is a good way to try a strain before buying more. An eighth, which is 3.5 grams, is the common size for most people. Larger sizes suit regular consumers. For what is in stock and at what size today, check the live menu.
Pre-Rolls
If you would rather not grind and roll your own, we carry pre-rolls alongside the flower. These come as singles and as multi-packs, and some are infused with concentrate for higher potency in the same form factor. As with flower, the selection rotates, so check the live menu or ask a budtender for what is available.
Craft Flower Versus Mass-Market
There is a real difference between craft and mass-market flower. Mass-market product is grown to maximize yield, often with a faster dry and a shorter cure, which can cost terpene retention and flavor. Craft product is grown at smaller scale with a slower dry, a longer cure, and careful trimming that protects the trichomes, plus single-strain segregation so you are buying what the label says.
The difference shows up when you open the jar: tighter structure, more intact trichomes, and aroma that fills the room. For someone buying flower to take home and use over a couple of weeks, that tends to hold up better over time.
Why Terpenes Matter As Much As THC Percentage
The most useful thing to look at on a label, past the THC number, is the terpene profile. Two jars at the same THC percentage can feel quite different depending on which terpenes lead. The entourage effect, the interaction between THC, minor cannabinoids, and terpenes, is the reason, and New York's COA format puts the terpene chart right on the package.
As a rough guide, myrcene reads herbal and tends toward relaxing effects. Limonene reads citrusy and tends toward more alert effects. Caryophyllene reads peppery. Pinene reads like pine. Linalool reads floral and is often in sleep-leaning strains. These are general tendencies, not guarantees, and a budtender can pull the COA for any jar so you can read the terpene chart before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring flower on the train?
Travel rules depend on the carrier and the route. NJ Transit, Amtrak, and the LIRR set their own policies on cannabis, and Amtrak operates under federal rules. Crossing state lines with cannabis remains federally illegal regardless of state law. Travel rules are your responsibility, so check before you ride.
What is the difference between craft and mass-market flower?
Craft flower is grown at smaller scale with a slower dry, a longer cure, careful trimming, and single-strain segregation. Mass-market flower prioritizes yield, which can cost terpene retention and flavor. Craft flower tends to hold its terpene profile and aroma longer after the jar is opened.
What strains do you carry?
Strain availability rotates with New York harvest cycles, and sun-grown lots tend to appear seasonally. The live menu at dutchie.com/stores/blazinup shows the strains in stock today with their cannabinoid and terpene profiles.
How much flower should I buy?
A 1 gram jar is a good way to try a strain first. An eighth, 3.5 grams, is the common size for most people. Larger sizes suit daily consumers. New York's daily purchase limit is commonly cited as 3 ounces of flower.
Indica, sativa, or hybrid for the evening?
The terpene profile predicts the experience more reliably than the label. Myrcene-leaning and linalool-leaning strains tend toward a relaxing profile. Ask a budtender to pull the COA for any jar if you want to check the terpenes before you buy.
Do you carry sun-grown flower?
We carry flower across cultivation methods, and sun-grown lots tend to appear seasonally after the outdoor harvest cures. Check the live menu for what is in stock now.
How long does flower stay fresh after I bring it home?
Stored cool, dark, and sealed, flower holds its quality for months. A humidity pack in the jar helps keep it at the right moisture level. The harvest date on the package helps you judge freshness.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Federal banking rules keep most licensed cannabis retailers from taking standard credit cards, because cannabis is still federally controlled. Plan on debit, cash, or a cashless ATM option. Check current accepted payment methods when you order or come in.
How do I verify The Alchemy is licensed before I visit?
