Talking About Concentrates At The Counter

Concentrates are the part of the menu where extraction method matters most, and plenty of people come in already knowing the vocabulary. The difference between solventless and solvent-based, between live and cured starting material, between one wash grade and another, all of that shows up in the flavor and the price. If you want to get into that detail, ask at the counter or look at the product notes on the live menu.

What we will not do here is print a specific product, brand, or price as fact, because the menu is live and changes. The Dutchie page is the accurate place for what is actually in stock today.

02

What The Concentrate Category Covers

A few common types show up across the category. Live rosin is solventless, pressed from ice-water hash that was washed from flash-frozen flower, and it tends to be the premium tier because the process is slower. Live resin uses a hydrocarbon solvent on flash-frozen flower and lands at a lower price for similar terpene preservation. Hash and ice-water hash are the older mechanical methods, separating trichomes without solvent. Shatter and badder are hydrocarbon extracts cured to a glassy or whipped texture. Diamonds with sauce pair crystallized cannabinoid with a separate terpene component.

Which of these are on the shelf, in what sizes, and at what price all live on the Dutchie menu rather than on this page.

03

Choosing Between Extraction Methods

A simple way to narrow it down is to start with what you care about most.

If terpene preservation is the priority, look at live rosin or live resin, since both start from flash-frozen material that locks in the volatile terpenes before they fade.

If you specifically want no solvents involved at any stage, live rosin is the solventless choice.

If budget is the priority, shatter and badder tend to be the lowest cost per gram in the category.

If you want the highest cannabinoid load, diamonds with sauce sit at the top.

If hash is what you grew up on, full-melt bubble hash or dry sift is the traditional route.

A budtender can walk through this with you, and the live menu shows what is available in each lane.

04

How Concentrates Are Consumed

Concentrates are usually used with a dab rig, with a portable electronic rig, with a concentrate-capable vaporizer, or rolled into an infused joint with flower. Electronic rigs handle the heat for you and skip the torch, which many apartment consumers prefer. If you are new to the format, the equipment matters as much as the product, so it is worth asking what setup fits how you plan to use it. We carry accessories alongside the concentrate category, and you can see those on the live menu too.

05

Why Buying Licensed Matters For Concentrates

Concentrates are worth buying from a licensed source. In New York, products on a licensed dispensary shelf go through required lab testing, and a Certificate of Analysis is tied to the batch. Unlicensed product carries no such guarantee. If you want to confirm a shop is licensed, the Office of Cannabis Management lists licensed adult-use retailers at cannabis.ny.gov.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between live rosin and live resin?

Live rosin is solventless, washed from flash-frozen flower and pressed at low heat. Live resin uses a hydrocarbon solvent on flash-frozen flower. Both preserve terpenes because both start frozen. Live rosin usually costs more because the process is slower and yields less.

Do I need a dab rig to consume concentrates?

A dab rig is the traditional method, but portable electronic rigs, concentrate-capable vaporizers, and infused pre-rolls are all options. Electronic rigs are the common apartment-friendly choice.

What is the strongest concentrate?

Crystallized cannabinoid diamonds carry the highest raw cannabinoid load. That said, raw percentage is not the whole story, since terpenes shape the experience too.

Do you deliver?

We deliver within Manhattan. Confirm your address and order on the live Dutchie menu. A 21+ government photo ID is required.

What is full-melt hash?

A high grade of ice-water hash, named because it melts cleanly without much residue. It is one of the more refined solventless grades.

Are concentrates lab-tested?

Yes. Products sold by a licensed New York dispensary go through required testing, and the Certificate of Analysis is tied to the batch. Unlicensed product does not carry that.

Can I bring concentrates on a flight home?

No. Cannabis cannot legally cross state lines, even between two adult-use states, because it remains federally illegal.

How do I see what is in stock and the price?

Everything live is on the Dutchie menu for the Flatiron store at /stores/the-alchemy-flatiron. Inventory and prices change, so that is the accurate source.

How do I verify The Alchemy is licensed?

The Office of Cannabis Management lists licensed adult-use retailers at cannabis.ny.gov. The Alchemy operates as a licensed adult-use retail dispensary at 302 8th Avenue (Chelsea) and 12 West 18th Street (Flatiron).
